The Building & Codes Department is responsible for inspecting homes and businesses, issuing building permits and business licenses, lot maintenance and enforcement of the Town's Nuisance Ordinance.

Department News

Business License Renewals: As a reminder, any business or individual (including contractors and subcontractors) who conducts business activities within the town limits is required to have a valid Town of Fort Mill business license. Please click here to download the 2013 Business License Application.

Notification of Fee Changes: The Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget was adopted by the Fort Mill Town Council on September 24, 2012. Please click here to for more information about building permit and water/sewer capacity fees.

2009 IECC Now in Effect: The 2009 edition of the International Energy Conservation Code went into effect for all new homes, renovations, and additions in the State of South Carolina on January 1, 2013. Please contact us at (803) 547-2034 if you have any questions about compliance requirements for the 2009 IECC.

Building Inspections

To request a building inspection, please email the contractor’s name, phone number, permit number, the address and lot number where the inspection needs to be made and the type of inspection to David Parnell or call (803)547-2034 ext. 260. Inspection requests must be made 24 hours in advance, and the contractor must be present at time of inspection.
